Baptism

Being baptized means that you’ve decided to follow Jesus and are ready to declare that decision publicly. Baptism is an outward symbol of something much bigger than the actual act of baptism itself. It shows that we have identified with Christ’s death and resurrection into new life, a life where he is King.
The decision to be baptized, and even the physical act of baptism, implies that we are entering into a life-changing relationship with our Creator God through his son Jesus. We want to make sure that you understand this decision as fully as possible which is why we ask each person who wishes to be baptized to attend a baptism class.
Baptism into a Community – At the Vineyard Church of New Orleans, we want to celebrate your decision to be baptized with you. We offer two baptism classes before each.
What about Kids? – At the Vineyard Church of New Orleans, we don’t baptize infants as we feel that baptism is something that comes after a decision is made to follow Jesus. Instead, we dedicate children to God and call parents to commit themselves to raise their children for Christ. We do this based on the model seen in scripture of infants being dedicated to the Lord. (1Samuel 1:21-29; Luke 2:21-24). However, as children mature spiritually, there will come a day when they are ready to make that decision. If you and your child feel that they are ready for baptism, please discuss this with the leaders in SuperChurch and Club456 or feel free to talk to one of our pastors.
Our next Baptism weekend is November 30th and December 1st.
