So you are interested in developing the daily discipline of reading God’s story given to us in the Bible. Following a reading plan is a great way to make the Bible a part of your daily life. While there are hundreds of reading plans out there, we have narrowed it down to four plans.
Each of these plans, and hundreds more, can be found at YouVersion, a free online resource that can even be downloaded to your smartphone via both the iPhone App Store and the Google Market.
Below are four plans that will take you through the entire Bible in one year:
| THE ONE YEAR BIBLE |
CHRONOLOGICAL |
Experience the insights and joy gained from reading the entire Bible. You can do it in as little as 15 minutes a day with The One Year ® Bible, the world's most popular annual reading Bible.
Daily readings from the Old Testament, New Testament, Psalms, and Proverbs will guide you through God’s Word in one year.

The Blue Letter Bible “Chronological” plan is compiled according to recent historical research, taking into account the order in which the recorded events actually occurred.
This is a fantastic plan to follow if you wish to add historical context to your reading of the Bible. If the schedule provided is followed, the entire Bible will be read in one calendar year. |
| OLD AND NEW TESTAMENT |
EAT THIS BOOK:
ONE YEAR BIBLE WITH DAILY PSALM |
It is important to understand the fullness of God’s message to the churches, and a great way of doing this is reading the Old and New Testaments simultaneously.
This plan, which can be completed in one calendar year, does just that. Readings from both Testaments are included from the beginning and although each reading does not contain both Testaments, the two are read effectively. |
In this plan, we'll read through the Bible in a year, following aspects of the Jewish traditional order in the Old Testament and spending a lengthier time in the New Testament.
The Psalms are removed from the sequence and added instead as a second reading, encouraging a prayer element for each day.
This plan was developed by Blackhawk Church in Madison, WI, to foster the practice of consuming Scripture daily. |
